Imagine getting in your car on a hot, steamy day and turning on the air conditioning which you set at the coldest temperature possible. Immediately the air begins to blow directly into your face and after a minute this air is extremely chilly. This occurs because of the blower motor. Every vehicle that has a heating system or air conditioner has a blower motor. Blower motors are located on the firewall of a vehicle, normally on the passenger side of the car. It usually rests in a housing but when removed from its housing it looks like a hamster wheel – which is the fan part. There is also a small electrical motor attached to this fan. The blower motor in a vehicle works by pulling air from the outside into the car and then pushing this air through either the heating or cooling system and then through the ducts and to you. This is accomplished by forced air, the same as most furnaces in homes.
